Offramp Gallery is pleased to present Olly Olly Oxen Free II, the reprise of last year's very popular outdoor group sculpture exhibition curated by Kristi Engle. The exhibition will be on view from September 13 - October 11, 2015. There will be an opening reception on Sunday, September 13 from 2-5pm.
There is a certain genre of film that uses a first person POV, pulling back a palm frond to reveal a fantastical and/or wondrous scene or a close up of a map that then pans to the exact location where “X marks the spot.” Inspired but the work of Charles Simonds, Olly Olly Oxen Free strives to engender that euphoric feeling of discovery and the delight that accompanies the unearthing of hidden treasure.
Artists include: Kristy Baltezore, Daniel Brodo, Patsy Cox, David P. Earle, Martin Gantman, Fatima Hoang, Joel Huschle, Meg Madison, Barry Markowitz, Tom Müller, Elonda Billera Norris, John David O'Brien, Pete Ortel and Matt Wardell.
Kristi Engle studied Italian Baroque painting before she became more preoccupied with contemporary art. She ran the Kristi Engle Gallery for seven years, in downtown Los Angeles and then Highland Park. Click here to see an archive of the gallery’s history. Kristi lives in Northeast Los Angeles with her husband and their dog. The artists that have influenced her the most are Caravaggio and Bruce Naumann.
