Press Release
Offramp Gallery is pleased to present Membrainchain: A Mind-Blending Installation by Albuquerque-based artist, Lea Anderson, from October 24 - November 21, 2010. An opening reception will be held for the artist on Sunday, October 24, from 2-5pm. The closing reception will be on Sunday, November 21, from 2-5pm with an artist's talk at 3pm.
In Membrainchain, Anderson connects hundreds upon hundreds of distinct “Membrain” units together in a meandering but never-ending chain, filling the exhibition space. The membrane-like materials exude chromatic vitality and movement in a growing, interconnected circuit. Each transparent, sprouting form is made through a complex digital process related to painting and sculpture.
Also included in the exhibition are a series of intricate drawings (mixed media combined with MRI imagery) exploring the Membrainchain concept uniquely and intimately.
Artist's Statement
Reality and Imagination are in a constant state of metamorphosis . . .evolution . . . transformation. Akin to living cells, our ideas are separate, but ever so closely linked; communication becomes not only translation, but a fertile interaction, puncturing through invisible skins and exchanging energy. Every moment, in all directions, we swim within this infinite symbiotic process while it absorbs us -and we absorb it, chemically, spiritually, boundlessly… in an everlasting chain reaction.
