Offramp Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition, Quinton Bemiller: Kusama Trees, September 12 - October 10, 2010 with an opening reception on Sunday, September 12, 2-5pm.

For his second solo exhibition at Offramp Gallery, Bemiller offers Kusama Trees, a series of small acrylic paintings, each 20" x 16," both inspired by and an homage to the work of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. These paintings, like all of Bemiller's work, explore spatial effects, sensations of time and suggestions of physical environments.

Bemiller states: The
Kusama Trees
paintings are small and intimate. Each one has evolved in its own way. Some are similar to one another while others are quite different in terms of color palette, technique and mood. I was very patient and sensitive to the materials and processes used to create these works. The paintings are full of surprises, unexpected moments and changes in course. They represent my give-and-take with the medium, many days and months of looking, thinking, responding and deciding. They are about everything and anything- all of my thoughts and experiences are here.

Elaine Carhartt, The Meeting, 2008-09, hand printed, individually watercolored lino cut, 12" x 16"

Continuing at Offramp Gallery is a solo exhibition of hand-watercolored lino prints by LA-area artist Elaine Carhartt from May 23 - June 20, 2010.

Books, especially illulminated manuscripts, are the inspiration for Carhartt's prints. Carhartt translates her fascination with the architecture and costumes of the figures in the small illustrations, creating her own scenes of everyday life -- as it might have been in the middle ages while also reflecting our lives today. Bold pattern, themes from nature, and a bright palette bring Carhartt's figures to life as they perform everyday tasks.

Each print is available in an edition of 10, all hand-watercolored by the artist.
