Inaugural Exhibition Anita Bunn: Blind Spot
Anita Bunn Blue Moreno, 2006 Ultrachrome print on panel 20" x 20"
Offramp Gallery is pleased to present its inaugural exhibition, Anita Bunn’s Blind Spot, the latest in an ongoing series of photographs in which the artist explores her fascination with what is noticed and what is eliminated from view as she allows her gaze to drift to the periphery of the frame. The exhibition opens on Sunday, September 14, 2008 and runs through November 16, 2008.
Based in Los Angeles, Anita is originally from Houston, Texas. She received her BA from Trinity University in San Antonio and studied at Studio Art Centers International in Florence, Italy, before moving to California in 1987. She graduated with honors from both Art Center College of Design (BFA Photography ’90) and Claremont Graduate University (MFA Photography ’07). She is currently an adjunct instructor of photography at the University of La Verne and of digital imaging at the Institute of Arts and Multimedia at Los Angeles Mission College. We hope to see you at the opening reception on Sunday, September 14, from 2-5pm. You can get directions to the gallery on our website as well as a map indicating street parking. Go Figure
As you know, Offramp Gallery is located in a private residence. Given the rising cost of everything these days, we are very happy to have room for a garden as well as a variety of fruit trees on the property. We gorged ourselves on plums in June and have been checking the fig tree every morning for signs of purple.
When I mentioned to long time friend, gourmet and LA area artist, Nicholette Kominos, that the figs were starting to ripen, she said she was on her way over with her ice cream maker and a to-die-for recipe for fig ice cream that she found on the Vanilla Garlic blog (scroll about half way down the page for recipe). Quinton Bemiller, co-coordinator of Project 210, a new gallery opening a couple of exits down the 210 freeway in October, suggested a recipe for figs with balsamic honey reduction. He starts with any amount of balsamic vinegar in a saucepan and reduces by half over medium heat, then adds honey to taste. The reduction should have a syrupy consistency. He brushes halved fresh figs with a little olive oil and roasts them in a 400° oven for 15 minutes. Drizzle with the balsamic honey reduction and they're ready to serve.

Looking for Artists
Offramp Gallery is actively looking for artists -- emerging and mid-career -- in all media, including book-related projects to be shown in the library (these can be anything loosely related to books -- from artist's books to site specific installations). Send us a proposal or let us know if you know of anyone who would be a good fit.
